Bookings for Posture & Mobility Group’s annual conference close on Friday 30 June 2017, but you need to register as soon as possible if you would like to book the package including accommodation, as these places are going fast!
The conference is taking place Monday 17 – Wednesday 19 July 2017 at Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff. It is PMG’s 25th anniversary event, so there may be a few surprises to make it a little more special than previous years!
Posture & Mobility Group (PMG) is a charitable organisation with the aim of sharing knowledge and promoting good practice in the field of posture and wheeled mobility. Members consist of professionals working in the NHS, local authority, charities, manufacturers and distributors, all of whom are working to improve the lives of people with physical disabilities, particularly focusing on the equipment needs of wheelchair users.
Becoming a member of PMG is free of charge, and members receive a £15 book voucher to spend at the conference book stall; plus, members can watch past conference sessions from 2008 to 2016 online. To join PMG, simply click here.
The conference was set-up in 1992 by professionals working in NHS wheelchair services, and has continued to be the main educational and networking event in the UK for these professionals, but has expanded to welcome those working in other settings.
This year’s programme is packed full of learning, and includes plenary sessions about myelomeningocele, pressure care, smart wheelchairs and early-years powered mobility; free papers covering paediatric seating solutions, lateral supports for active wheelchair users and shared decision making; break-out sessions about temperature controls, wheelchair skills training and protection of body shape to name a few. The full programme can be viewed here.
The conference isn’t just about education, it’s also an excellent opportunity to network – whether about solutions for clients, or career opportunities. The first day is a great introduction for new attendees, with a speed networking event covering plus sizes, belts & harnesses, electronic assistive technology and wheelchair stability; followed by a free welcome event at a local restaurant.
The second day will see the opening of the exhibition, where delegates are able to discuss product solutions with wheelchair, seating, assistive technology and pressure care distributors and manufacturers. A floor plan and list of exhibitors, is available here. The day ends with a drinks reception in the exhibition hall, followed by PMG’s Gala Dinner and after party. The exhibition opens again for most of the third day, and the farewell refreshments allow those who have made it to the end to say their goodbyes, and reflect on the learning and networking opportunities gained over the whole event.
