Poetry recited by a Derby becomes NHS training for staff working in mental health.
Paul Wiggins was asked to record a video after he was featured in the Derby Telegraph for the inspirational work he does reading poetry in schools. Initially, he was asked to recite one of the poems, Please Hear What I’m Not Saying, by Charles C Finn, at a Derbyshire carers event. This was then played to mental health workers across Derbyshire as part of their training. Paul’s video went down so well, that he proceeded to recording the video with the NHS for future staff training in 2013.
This resource from the Derbyshire NHS Trust has been widely used in the UK particularly for young people to gain some understanding of the emotions surrounding mental health.
