Southfield VolunteerA Retirement Housing Development in Dunbar is looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to help tenants to get creative by engaging with art.

Bield’s Southfield Court development would like artistically minded volunteers to take lessons with tenants and help build on the talents and drive they have gained from previous classes.

The Art Tutor will be asked to share the techniques gained from their artistic background to enhance tenant’s painting and drawing abilities.

This project perfectly complements Bield’s ‘Free to Be’ ethos, which encourages people to make their own choices, as it seeks to open older people to a world of vibrant and exciting artistic expression.

Caroline McClung, development manager at Southfield Court, said: “Our tenants are a friendly and enthusiastic bunch and anyone willing to give a little of their free time to share their talents would be opening them up to a fantastic experience.

“Recreational classes like this are greatly beneficial as they can be very therapeutic for tenants – allowing them to get involved with something creative while socialising with others.”

If you enjoy socialising with other people, have artistic skill and ability, and would like to become more involved in the local community please consider this hugely rewarding opportunity. Times are flexible based around Monday mornings but volunteers are asked to commit to two hours a week for at least six months.

If you are over 16 and would like to enquire further about becoming a part of the team at Southfield Court contact Caroline McClung on 01368 863 063 or Donna Dickson on 0131 273 4095 or d.dickson@bield.co.uk for more information.

Please note that although volunteers will reimbursed for travel expenses, this is a volunteer position. Bield thank everyone for their enquiry, however, they hope you understand that not all enquiries will result in volunteer placements.
